Recently my AC blows warm air all of the sudden and then becomes normal again and blows the cold air. Technician could not find the cause because when I took my car to the shop, the AC was completely normal, but when I drove back from the shop, the AC turned warm again for about 5 minutes and then turned cold again for the rest of the day. Recently my automatic belt tensioner starts to vibrate and turned loose which the car dealership said it needs to be replaced, is that a possible reason that causes my AC problem?

Hi dawenh,

Thank you for the donation.

I don't believe the tensioner is causing the problem.

The fault should lie with the air mix door and its controlling links.

When problem happens again, turn the heater knob to maximum and then back to cold to see if it works. Sometimes the air mix door gets stuck and does not close correctly resulting in the heat instead of cool air.

I would guess the relay has failed. I am going through this for the second time right now. First time was 3 years ago. The part is backordered now, so who knows when it will be fixed. But I wonder why this continues to happen, and if there is anything I can do to prevent it. I also have a 2004 TSX, AT, 64,000 miles. I would rather have the relay fail than the compressor, but it is still an annoyance to keep fixing.
