2001 Acura TL CV Joint Repair

I have a CV Joint on the front passenger side of the car that needs to be replaced. The symptoms appeared 2-3 weeks ago and today the mechanic showed me the problem from under the car. It will be 30-45 days before I can fit the repair into my budget. I drive about 250 miles every 7-10 days and most of that is on city streets. Do you think I can delay the repair given my driving habits/conditions and the severity of the problem at this time?

Without a visual of the extent of the damage, it is not possible to comment.

Is the rubber boot torn and grease has spilt out?
Does crocking noise occurs when driving in straight forward position?

Usually the CV joints can stll last for quite a while even if it is making noises. When it is about to fail cocmpletely, the crockiing noise would be very loud. If the noise level is not too loud, it can stll hold on.

To prevent it from failing within shorter time frame, avoid hard accelerations, especially during turns and specifically, never use full throttle for full turns. Be gentle with the gas pedal and there would be less strain (torque) on the CV joints.
