Engine too lean means not enough fuel is getting to the combustion chambers.
Possible causes are
1. Vacumn leakages, (disconnected or cracked vacumn hoses, faulty PCV)
2. Clogged fuel filter
3. Faulty fuel pressure regulators or fuel pump.
4. Faulty O2 sensor
There are many more and I would not want to make you confused. We should check the basics first and start with the fuel filter. If it had not been replaced for more than 20,000 miles, it is time to replace it.
