2004 Acura MDX ECU replacement

The ECU in my MDX need to be replaced. I wonder if I can do it myself. Is the ECU just plug and play? I am aware that I need to program the remote once the new ECU is in. Some people said that I have to program the ECU for the key too.

the vehicle's vin, mileage and keys have to transferred to the new ecu whenever replaced so unless you have the right equipment, you need to go to a dealer.
why do you need a new ecu?

I need a new ECU because the check engine light came on and got the P0603 code (PCM Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error.

Anyways to fix the problem without getting a new ECU? Please let me know.

all you should need is a software update for ecm, the dealer will be able to update your software. aside from that you can just clear the code and you should be fine, i wouldn't recommend replacement just because you read that code.

The check engine light cannot be cleared. The check engine light came right back on after each reset. I will follow your recommendation bringing my MDX to the dealer. Thank you very much!

if you couldn't clear the code then that is your only possbible solution before i would recommend replacing the ecm.
if you have them do a diagnostic they should waive the labor cost of updating the ecm or part of the ecm replacement, make sure before you pay for diagnostic because not all dealers follow standard policy.
