1998 Acura Integra Odd noise

Happens when I am in 5th gear between 45 and 58 mph and I try to accelerate the car, the car responds but it makes an odd noise while accelerating. it's not terribly loud, but it is a constant noise while i accelerate. If I maintain speed it seems to be fine. Does not happen when I am in any other gears, and sometimes it will not happen at all.

How does the noise sound like?

If it is whining type, it could be due to the 5th gear bearings or gears. Check the trans gear oil level. Low oil level can result in noises and premature wear/damage to the 5th gear.

It's hard to describe, the best I can say is that it sounds somewhat like dragging a 2x4 across pavement except a bit more mechanical. It's a low almost constant noise, sounds like it comes from the right side of the car. Definitely not whining though.

Seems to be a bearing noise and not the gears that is causing the noise.

Get the transmission gear oil level checked. Note the condition of the oil.
