1998 Acura Integra intake manifold

What is the purpose of iac valve for this car.
The exact problem on my car is that when any load is on the engine like for example A/c or I put in gear car turns off and if if doen't brakes get very hard almost impossible to stop the car when im driving. Thank you and looking forward in working with you an dfor you.

Hi chainman,

The purpose of the IAC is to control the idling speed. If there are any changes in engine electrical load, the engine rpm would drop and the IAC would be informed by the PCM to open up to allow more air into the intake which would increase the idling speed.

What you are experiencing could be a dirty IAC and throttle body. Get them cleaned and see if problem goes away.
