1997 Acura Integra a/c compressor

yesterday i was going down the road and all of a suddent smoke started commin out for the a/c compressor it smelt like rubber and now is making a pinging sound and it looks like my clutch is not engaging also it has not be pushing any cold air out when i turn it on i was wondering if there is any was to tell if it is th clucth or the whole unit thanks i hope you can help me

Hi zpotter,

To test if the compressor is seized, turn the outer pulley central part. It should turn with a minimal resistance.

To test if the compressor clutch is working, apply battery voltage to the clutch wire and you should hear a click.
