*Reversing causes a hard kick then the whole car shudders; this goes away once you are moving forward.

*When the car is idling there is a loud squealing noise but once you began moving it disappears. It sounds like it is coming from the back but could be wrong.

*The following lights were on: 1. Engine 2. SBS 3. ABS 4. Maint. Req.

If you could help out with if these could possibly be minor or major problems. Thanks!

Hi Justaskingaquestion,

The problem resulting from reversing coul dba due to faulty engine mounts. Get them checked.

The only noise that can appear from the rear when engine is idling would be from the exhaust. Get the system checked for any parts that could be touching the body.

Check Engine Light (CEL), SRS ( Airbag system) and ABS ( Anti-locking Brake System) indicatesa error(s) have been detected in the various system respectively. Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know the exact trouble codes

For ABS and SRS Autozone might not be able help but you can bridge the SCS connector and manually retrieve the trouble codes.

Maintenance Required indicator can be reset.

MAINTENANCE REQUIRED - PROCEDURE 1

1. For the first 6000 miles after completion of scheduled maintenance and indicator light reset, the MAINT REQD reminder light will illuminate for 2 seconds when ignition is turned to ON position. Between 6000-7500 miles, the MAINT REQD reminder light will illuminate for 2 seconds, then flash for 8 seconds, and then go out. After exceeding 7500 miles without having scheduled maintenance performed, light will remain on until it is reset.

2.When service has been completed, reset MAINT REQD reminder light. To reset light, ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Turn ignition switch to ON position, with engine off. Push RESET button on maintenance reminder unit located behind lower dash cover and hold for 3 seconds. See
Fig. 4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn ignition switch to ON position and verify MAINT REQD light has been reset.
