The timing belt on my 96 integra snapped at about 65mph on the freeway it has a B18B1 engine . I am not sure if it is an interference engine and could have damaged some of the pistons and valves. I was going to start pulling the head but I figured asking first will save me some time

Can I find top dead center on cylinder one after repairing any damage and when replacing the head or do I run a chance of f-en it up again? I ask because the mechanic I took it to (before I decided to do it myself) already removed the timing cover, belts and distributer. I appreciate all your help.
Thanks,
