You may want to consider to stop doing this. It will do more harm in the long run than you know. Here is an analogy. Imagine you have a spinning wheel or fan (similar to shifting to neutral from 80mph), and you jam a stick to stop the wheel or the fan so that the wheel/fan will move at the same speed as the stick (shifting to 60mph from neutral - matching the engine speed to the transmission speed). No one has any idea how may teeth to the flywheel or the torque converter has been damaged from this practice.

Two things that I would like you to check before or during the transmission service. Check the operation of your engine coolant temperature. The TCM (transmission control module) receives a signal from the ECT for proper engine temperature so it can equalize transmission shifting. The other is you AC compressor operation. If the TCM does not receive signal from the AC, it will not engage your lock-up torque converter.
