When my engine downshifts as I'm coming to a stop, should I not stop entirely and my trans downshift is in 2nd and just about to shift down to 1st, then I accelerate (ex: if a traffic light turns from red to green) it slips until I let off the gas peddle. When I feel it grab then it is OK to accelerate again. It's been doing this since about 3 months after I bought it used in 2004.

My trans fluid is red and the level is at the top of the knurled section of the dip stick. When I check the fluid level I run the car until it is fully warm, then shut it off, put it in park, open the hood, check the level, wipe off the stick and check it again.

Hi cybrbrze,

Seems the 2nd clutch is weak and slips under hard acceleration.

There is nothing much you can do about it except to use until it fully slips and rebuild it.
