Engine Performance problem
1994 Acura Integra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

At a stop light and otherwise when idling, the engine slowly decreases idle speed to about 500 RPM or slightly less, then jumps up to 800 RPM and slows down again. The process takes a few seconds, not long.

At about 600 RPM it's slow enough that its a very rough idle, and seems on the verge of stalling at 500 RPM, but so far hasn't completely stalled before jumping back to 800 RPM.

What is the likely cause?
