1993 Acura Integra battery

I have a 93 integra gsr.I try to change the start but I was given the worng starter. So I put my old one back on. I hook everything back. I try puting the battery on but it spark up very big and it melted the battery thermal a little bit, it does it eveytime when I try puting it on, so pleases help asap!
