My 1991 integra is throwing out white smoke only when I drive it for a long distance. Only when I turn it off and and then when I turn it back on then it will start thorwing white smoke out. People tell me it is the head gasket. Then the other promblem is that when the car is idling it goes all the way down and then come back to the right idling.

Hi powelljustin,

Do you have overheating or coolant losses issues?

If the smoke is greyish, then it would be oil being burnt in the cylinders and you would depletion of engine oil.

The poor idling could be due to a dirty IAC and throttle body or a bad head gasket.
