I took my to to get an emissions test and it barely failed the first time. With a carbon monixide level of.69 when it needs.32 to pass. I was told to drive it for a bit b4 I got it tested so I did and I put guarenteed to pass in it which is a fuel additive to make it burn cleaner. I took a second test and it failed at 1.01. I took it to canadian tire and the didnt test it and said the motor was rev slightly uncontrolably. And that my exhaust was leaking. I went in the car and it did that. But I never had that happen b4 I went to canadian tire. But the other mechanic sadi the same thing now. Wut could it be
I think my catylitic converter is fine.

The Converter can be fine, and you could have a leak after the converter. Change your motor oil, Plugs and air filter, then run car one half hour before the test, and don't shut it off till after the test, not even while you wait in line! And if there is an exhaust leak, it MUST be fixed before the test!

We have similar testing in Tx. I've found that if you take the car out and run it for about a half hour at highway speeds, they show to be cleaner.

Like merlin said, take it out and run it, then DO NOT shut it down until after the test. The exhaust leak has to be fixed. I think like merlin. Tune it up, change the oil, fix the ex leak, run it hard, then get it tested. Should be ok.

By the way, those fuel additives are no substitute for the engine running properly. If you want it leaner, run the 93 octane over the 89. That WILL help.
