hello,

'97 Acura CL 3.0 V6.

The car is throwing a 'Brake Lamp' dummy light on the dashboard. When this light is on, 3 things happen:
1. the car's brake lights remain on consistently (they appear as if i'm pressing the brake whether i'm pressing it or not)
2. the turn signals do not work. neither the dash lights nor the physical lights light up.
3. when i brake, both dash turn signals consistently light up simultaneously about 1/4 brightness. when not braking, they are not illuminated.

when car is first started, the 'Brake Lamp' light isn't on. it comes on when i press the brake down to shift into gear. when i try the turn signals, they do not work; instead there is click a sound from the shifter area (the same click sound that happens when i press the brake down to shift out of Park when the car is behaving normally).

the fuses all check out fine. i recently replaced the alternator.

thanks in advance for any advice!

Try testing the multi-function switch (turn signal/ Light switch) Most times this is where the problem is and you will have to replace the multi-function switch.
