Actuator location

Changed thermostat got some warm air but then only cool air. Blower motor works fine. May try to blow out heater core but wondering where the actuator is located in case that is the problem

Good morning

I would flush the heater core. Use a garden hose to clear it. Run it both ways several times to get a good clean flow.

I attached a picture of the location of the blend door for you to view.

I intend when it warms up here to use both air and a garden hose and then pour a radiator flush into the heater core and let it sit for 1-2 hours and then flush it out. I will flush into a clear bottle to see what debris I might find. Then pour fresh coolant into the heater core, put the hoses back on and see if that was the problem. Not being a mechanic (some ability as I had a problem with no heat in my 2002 Silverado 2500HD and was able to replace the actuator and that solved my problem with it. What I want to know verbally is where is the actuator located in my wife's 2003 Dodge Dakota. The image you sent does not help that much. Thank you so very much for any assistance you can give me.L

The image shows the location. It is identified in the picture. It is under the dash toward the center of the truck by the air distribution vent for the floor.

Procedure below.

The labor in a shop is.7 hours or about 45 minutes from start to finish.

REMOVAL
The single zone heating and air conditioning system is equipped with a single blend door actuator.

WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Roll the Instrument Panel Assembly back
3. Remove the HVAC unit from the vehicle.
4. Remove the blend actuators.
5. Remove the drive shaft from the blend door.
6. Remove the upper half of the HVAC housing.
7. Slide the blend air module out of the HVAC housing.

Thanks. By the way there were no images in your last response. I do have a master mechanic family friend and may see if he has time to do this after I try flushing the heater core.
