Heat only blows out passenger side, why, if blend motor is problem where is it located?

Blower works, engine temp is normal, A/C works but when I turn on the heater, No heat. Also there is no smell from coolant when fan is on. I have a 2001 dodge stratus that only has the highest setting on the blower motor working and I have no heat. It is barely warm at all. I have changed the thermostat, radiator cap, the heater core hoses are both hot. I have removed the radio and the mixture damper is working great and the cable is in tact. Also I found a fuse called the iao fuse and it remembers all the vehicles settings. I removed it for 30 secs and then reinstalled and I could here the air conditioning flappers moving around and the air was moving around when I started the car after I reinstalled that fuse. So I am assuming the flappers are all in sync. I also take off the radiator cap and give it gas and the water shoots sky high so I would assume the water pump is fine. But yet I have very cool heat. Any other ideas where to check? Need a little help

THis sounds like a classic temperature blend door actuator is not working here is the location of the unit so you can replace it to get your heater working again. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

The mode door actuator may not be moving. I attached a picture of the motor and the procedure for replacing it. It is a very common failure.

REMOVAL

NOTE: Prior to part replacement, re-calibration the HVAC actuator. Disconnecting negative battery cable for 60 seconds. This will automatically initiate the software calibration procedure.

1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Remove left silencer panel.
3. Remove wiring connection from actuator.

4. Remove mode actuator mounting screws and pull actuator straight down. Note actuator shaft position for installation reference.

INSTALLATION
1. Install mode door actuator on the housing, make sure spline shaft is positioned properly with the cam.
2. Install and tighten the mounting screws.
3. Connect actuator wiring harness to the actuator.
4. Install console left side panel.
5. Install left silencer panel.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Okay, I am back. This time I have a problem of smelling gas. When I start my vehicle up I smell gas fumes. Under the hood and inside the car. I think it is a fuel injector problem. Not sure. There is no evidence of gas leaking from the gas hose, fuel tank or gas cap. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

I have a heater blend door actuator replacement part which is the only one I could find from any and all stores. But when I went to replace it I noticed that the two tops were slightly different making it impossible to have the wires connected because of a slight groove.

I think they sold you an actuator for the mode door. See the two attached pics. Pic 3 shows the blend door actuator location. Is that the one you removed? Also, looking at your pics, which one is the original actuator?

The original pic if you zoom in I forgot which one I posted first but it's the one with the longer groove on the left and I removed the part by removing the cover from under the steering wheel and looking to the right closest to the center console. Is the best way I can explain it. But they said my car only has one heater blend door actuator it looks like the same part but the groove is what's holding me back. Its hard to explain, I guess but it has 3 screws and a spot to plug it in to. I'm sorry I'm not as helpful at explaining this more in depth.

Okay, as far as there only being one blend air door actuator, that is correct. However, there is a mode door actuator and a couple others. The mode door actuator looks the same, but does a different job (air flow direction) and is a different part number.

I just went through about a hundred actuators. The part number for yours is 58024E. There seems to be variations to the same number. Ugh! Anything to make things harder. LOL

Take a look at the pic I attached. That is an OEM part with the same number. Can you tell if it is the same as your old one? It looks like the one you got from the parts store, which is a dorman part. I even went back a year and ahead a year. 2002 is the same and 2000 is a different part number but has the same connection. I have to be honest, I suspect you will need to visit a dealer to get the right one.

That looks like the part I was trying to put on. So that means I got the air blend door actuator part correct right? It just means the part I was trying to put on was the mode door actuator is what your saying right? And I have no idea what OEM stands for. Can you elaborate on that subject?

Is there a pinpoint to see if I need a new controller or a blend door? When I bought the car the air conditioning did not work we thought it was the blend door, my car battery died and when we jumped started it my air conditioning started working but I no longer have heat. Before I rip my car apart to replace the blend door I want to make sure its not the controller that needs replacing.

Hi,

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. That would be a factory Dodge part. And no, the part you got is indicated as the blend door actuator. It should be correct. However, there seems to be several variations to the part even though the primary part number stays the same. I suspect you need to visit a Dodge dealer and take the part with you for them to match it. The last pic I attached has the same primary part number, but it is different. I went to the Dorman (after market parts) website, and what they gave you is what it should take. However, and as you already know, the connector is different. In this case, you should contact a dealer parts department and see what they suggest. I wish I had that answer for you. Honestly, I tried to figure it out, but it isn't making sense. Everything points to the one you got as being correct.

Thank you for all your help. That's odd to hear, I couldn't find a thing that could help. You've done all that you can for me I just hate to go to a dealer and them not be able to help me because it might not be in warranty anymore or charge me a lot. But I appreciate you.

You are very welcome. Listen, have a dealer look up the part number and provide it for you. Also, explain to them what is happening. Honestly, the actuator you have may work if you modify the connector so it connects, but I don't want to tell you to do that and cause problems.
