Sirs, the accelerator cable on my truck is fraying badly at the throttle body end. I cannot buy a new one as it is a discontinued part. Do you think the one for a 4.3 engine will fit as a replacement? Thanks, Joe

Do not rule out your 4.3 idea.

This worked well the first time in a real pinch, and a couple of more times since.

The first time was really economical. The other two occasions were purchased from the same shop (during the day- still pretty cheap).

See my answer in this link.

Just be aware that there are several different cable sizes (diameters), one closest to your size would work the best. I only replaced the inner cables and the outer shrouds were reused.

Keep us informed!

The 4.3 cable is about one inch longer on the inner cable. But it will work if you "adjust" the brackets and the end clip a bit.
