Cannot find replacement hardware (bolt, spacer, and dust shield) for the upper and lower idler pulleys. Need proper bolt specs. Pictures of the bolt, and video of removal and replacement. And where to buy the hardware. Any information would help.

Hello,

If you can send me your entire 17-digit VIN I can see what information is out there. The best place to get hardware is from the dealer. I can get you part numbers, as well as get you some exploded views of the parts to give you a better idea of how it's going to come apart.

To help you locate your VIN number, I have included a picture for your reference.

Thank you

Hi guys. Due to age, these are likely to be salvage yard parts. If you do a search for "Pull-A-Part", you can see if there's a yard near you. All of them are very clean and well organized, parts are cheap, and employees and customers are helpful and friendly. I've been to 16 of their yards. There's many other similar yards around the country but none as well organized. You pay your buck, throw your toolbox in one of their wheelbarrows, and you can spend all day there.

You can check places like Rock Auto too, but unless the parts were used on the same engines for many later years, the dealer isn't likely to have them available from Chrysler. With Fords you often can't get parts for vehicles even three years old.

Good morning,

In my opinion buying used or cheap parts will just cause issues again down the road. I would advise going to the dealer first and getting the parts that came on the vehicle originally. 2003 is not that old. I have a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban and I get parts from them all the time. Especially hardware. I have worked in dealerships that served Dodge, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, VW, Audi and Nissan. Nissan I can get parts for vehicles from the 80's.

Also, the serpentine belt area gets everything that goes through the grill thrown at it and runs your vehicle. Including salt, water and sand. So, you are going to want something tough. OEM parts are built to fit that exact vehicle and last a lot longer.

Why don't we try getting your VIN and I will see if the parts are available for you. If not, then I would definitely recommend trying Rock Auto, Advanced Auto Parts, O'Reilly's, or NAPA. I would use the junkyard as a last resort. So, in my opinion we should at least try the dealer first. At the very least we will have the Dodge part number which will make these parts much easier to find.

A lot of dealers put their obsolete inventory on eBay, with the part number you will be able to find them much easier. Dealers can also locate parts around the country at other dealers if they don't have them in their inventory and buy from them. It's called Dealer to Dealer.

In my experience the last thing you want to do is do the job again because you got a cheap or used part. This is my opinion.

I have also attached a diagram of your serpentine belt system for your reference.

Do it right. Do it once.

Thank you,
Brendon
