Doesn't accelerate when pressing on gas instead the car deaccelerates. Say I'm going about 15 mi and need to gain speed up to 30 mi instead it stays at 15 or slower.

Hi,

Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running? If it is, that is where we should start, having the computer scanned for codes. That would point us in the right direction. Here is a quick video showing how it's done:

If you have or have access to a scanner, this is where I would start.

Now, the idea that it loses speed when you press the throttle leads me to think it could be related to fuel pressure or even a plugged catalytic converter. Are there any strange odors or sounds from the exhaust? Any smoke from the exhaust?

Take a look through this link. It describes common symptoms related to a failing catalytic converter. See if anything seems to mirror what you experience.

Also, here is a link that explains in general how fuel pressure is checked:

Let me know if the pressure has been already checked and your thoughts about the catalytic converter symptoms.

Take care,

Joe
