Anything more than just the slightest pressure on the accelerator will cause the engine to revert to idle speed and sets up bad vibration. Warning lights appear: "service Advanced Trac soon," and "Hillside parking assist disabled." Perhaps a couple others too. If you stop and shut it down, you can immediately restart and everything is fine until you try to accelerate to merge into traffic.

Hi,

Does the check engine light turn on and flash? Have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes?

On this vehicle, what really needs done is to have the CAN bus system scanned to identify which module is causing the break down. CAN stands for computer area network. On this vehicle, the modules are all tied together.

Here is a video the shows how and why it is important to scan the can bus system:

Are you able to have that done?

Let me know.

Thank you Joe. My private mechanic verified this and showed me that it was a computer issue. In this case it was a bad circuit in the electronic throttle body and had to replace it.
