Recently when i’ve been using the car and I go to accelerate after being stopped the car either doesn’t go at all or feels like i’m going through mud and is extremely loud.
I just put all new coolant in, I have a small radiator leak somewhere that I haven’t discovered. But both my transmission and engine oil was. Fine when I checked a couple days ago.

Hi,

When this happens, do the RPMs increase but the vehicle does not accelerate? Also, a small radiator leak can indicate a leak in the transmission cooler. Do you notice any oily residue in the radiator or overflow reservoir? Was there any indication that the transmission fluid was contaminated?

Also, you indicated it was really loud when this happens. Is it possible for you to record the noise and upload it for me to hear? If not, how would you best describe the sound?

Let me know.

Joe

When we checked my transmission fluid seemed clean but whenever something leaks under my car it is slightly oily.
I’m going to be honest with you I don’t think I can see RPMs on my car. The only things on the dash really are the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and odometer.
The best I can describe the sound is a loud whirring.

Hi,

Does it sound like the engine is revving but not accelerating? For example, does it feel like it is in neutral and there is no load on the engine when you press the throttle?

What you see on the driveway could be coolant. It does have an oily base to it and won't evaporate, so it can trick you into thinking it is oil.

If there is any possible way you could record the sound, that would really help me. If the engine is revving and the vehicle isn't accelerating, the transmission could be slipping. I would need to hear it.

Let me know.

Joe
