Car has "sputtered" upon acceleration after a red light and also once when accelerating while driving. Car well maintained. What would be the primary cause of this and is there any chance it has to do with the catalytic converter?

Doubt it is the converter, try cleaning throttle plate on both sides and IAC hole with choke cleaner see if that helps.

Idle air control, it is kind of like an oblong hole, sometimes round you will see it once you get ducting off to clean plate.
