Replacement engine will not accelerate?

i put a motor in my car went to test drive the car an i mashed the gas pedal an it wouldn't accelerate.

Is there any variation in the RPM speed when you hit the throttle?

Let me know as much as you can as far as what happens. Also, let me know if you have already checked for diagnostic trouble codes.
