Accelerating with foot on the brake?

1998 NISSAN ALTIMA

I took my car to the mechanic today and noticed he had his foot on the brake and accelerated for a few seconds. I already had a small trans fluid leak from a seal near the torque converter. Could what he did damage the seal even more causing the leak to get worse?
