The blend door on driver side moves full range. Is the only conclusion the door it self requiring a whole dash removal? Would even consider a way to just leave it on cold. I believe occasionally it works, but haven't confirmed.

If the blend door inside the HVAC plenum is broken the dash will need to be removed the HVAC box removed as well to fix the blend door, you might be able to jam the door open but it might be difficult and no guarantee it will work. You will need to drain the engine coolant and vacuum down and recharge the A/C system. Here is a video to help:

Before you begin I would remove the actuator and work the door pivot by hand to se if you hear the door moving from stop to stop. Also, there can be an obstruction like a tooth pick, ink pen or coins holds the door open. Let me know if you need help removing the HVAC plenum, it is not to bad doing the job when you put your mind to it. Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.
