A/C compressor seems frozen

No cooling and noise, motor stalls if I try A/C.

Yes, this happens when the A/C compressor is locked up which is common. I would grasp the front of the compressor to see if you can turn it (engine off). If you cannot turn the compressor this guide can help you change the compressor out with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car.

It should turn by hand, (engine off) if not the compressor is no good, so you will need a wrench to replace it. Try Amazon or Rock auto for the parts, stay with a name brand like Motorcraft.
