The A/C is not working?

I bought this car as is. Checked fan was off, checked if any Freon is in the line by pressing the valve pin and nothing came out, so am thinking it has a leak somewhere. Compressor turns fine by hand. Should the fan come on even if compressor is off whenever I turn the A/C on?

Hi,

The condenser fan won't turn on unless the circuit is completed. If there is no freon in the system, what I would recommend is to place a vacuum on the system to see if it will hold the vacuum. If it does, then recharge it.
