Hi.

I have a the vehicle listed above base model with 4 cylinder 1.6L MPI engine.

I started noticing some issues with my A/C for a month, not cooling probably at the time I didn't do anything since I was bit tight on money. Yesterday the AC went totally warm, not cooling at all or just a slight breeze of cold air. The AC set on 18 degrees Celsius but the air coming around 27 degrees Celsius. I could hear the compressor clicking sound when turning the A/C on but not cold air. So, I went to a technician, and he hooked a machine to check the refrigerant. What he found is the low pressure at 80 PSI and the high pressure at 190 PSI.

With ambient temperature around 39 degrees Celsius, he told me you need a new compressor. Now the issue here in Saudi Arabia is that no one want to check and diagnose the issue, they want to change everything new compressor, new evaporator, new radiator etc. I did some Googling and found confusing answers, some forms say it could be the expansion valve, some say it could be the compressor, some say it's low on refrigerant. So, I am lost here. From the readings and your expert opinion what do you recommend doing?

Noting that since 2014 nothing was changed regarding the A/C. I was going to do a full refrigerant change but the technician advice to not to do it because it might damage the compressor.

Then I thought to change the expansion valve and full refrigerant change according to some forums, but I am lost here.

I would appreciate the help and thank you in advance.

Yes, this means the A/C compressor has gone out and needs to be replaced. Here is a generic guide to help you step by step with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-air-conditioner-compressor

And this guide can show how to vacuum and recharge the system:

Thank you very much for your reply.

What I did yesterday is the following,
I did a full system recovery and charge, I did it just to try and see what will happen and because it's cheap like 25$ for the service.

The results:
1 - The recoverd refrigerant 0.296KG and 0 oil for a 5 min vacuum.
2 - The machine didn't know how much refrigerant needed to charge the system (no sticker under the hood) So, he put 0.500KG and 5ML of oil.

After the service nothing happened, same as before.

Now, I have some questions,
1 - Is the amount correct? For the refrigerant and oil? Or need to be more or less? I couldn't find how much it should be, I googled and went through the owners manual and nothing.
2 - From the recovered data, dose it mean anything? Like the 0 oil does it mean bad compressor or something else, my question is can this data be a diagnosis data?

The second step from here I think I will go with the cheapest option and change the expansion valve do you think it might work?
I am going with the cheapest by the cheapest because a full compressor change will cost a lot.

Thank you very much for everything.

Thank you for your reply, and sorry for the late response. The low side pressure is at 105 PSI and the high side pressure is at 140 PSI. The ambient temperature were around 37 degrees celsius.
