A/C fuse in engine compartment keeps blowing

The A/C fuse in engine compartment keeps blowing. I’ve checked for broken wires and have found none. I can unplug the ac compressor and I check with a test light, and I do have power going to it. The truck has a new ECU. I thought compressor was shorting so I replaced two brand new Ac Delco compressor and it still blows. What else can I check? Is it possible the fuse block in engine compartment is bad? Because if it’s getting power there isn’t a short going to compressor?

Hi,

Will the fuse blow if you have the compressor clutch disconnected?

I attached the wiring schematic for the compressor as a reference for you. Take a look at it I highlighted the clutch and fuse. Is that the fuse that is blowing? Is that the wire that has power that you checked?

Yes, that’s the 10 amp fuse for compressor clutch.

Hi,

Okay, have you inspected the connector at the compressor clutch? If the fuse doesn't blow disconnected, something is shorting when it's connected. I say that because you indicated replacing two compressors already. I wouldn't think you got two bad ones.

Hey Joe, it was a broken wire shorting out in fuse box in engine compartment I’m in process of fixing it. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Hey, got another question for you my wife is looking at buying a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe it’s in good shape. Except for some check engine codes. I read them with my code reader, and it was knock sensors. Question is if truck has been driven for a while could he have caused engine damage? Or if I change knock sensor it would be fine? The truck starts right up but idles a little rough. Your professional input would greatly appreciate.

Hi,

The knock sensors are used to fine-tune ignition timing. If bad, it really shouldn't hurt things other than fuel economy and performance. If you purchase the vehicle, feel free to start a new thread specific to the knock sensors and we'll help you through the diagnostics and replacement if you need us to.
