Hello,

Does the fuse have power this guide will help and there are two other fuses that must be checked as well. Here are the blower motor wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and which fuses to check also with a guide to help you check for power along with the fuse locations below.

It appears no fuse is blown. Is this the fan motor itself?

Grab a test light and check for power and ground at the motor. If it has both when turned on the motor is bad, otherwise it may be the blower motor resistor. Follow the wiresfrom the motor to the resistor, should be near the motor mounted in the HVAC plenum

The switch that contols the A/C & heater blower has settings 0 - 5. Initially, the blower quit working on setting 1, then it quit working on setting 2. Presently, you have to crank the blower up to setting 3 to get any air blow from the vents. The air blows out pretty hard on setting 3 so it becomes too much air very quickly. This same problem has happended before and I paid the dealer to fix it. I have seen the same problem in other cars. Obvioulsy, this is a common problem. Please advise how to fix it. Thank you very much for your help.

Chances are the blower motor resister is bad. Stop at a nationally recognized parts store and get one. They are cheap. As far as replacement, it is located near the blower motor and has one electrical plug and (I think) two screws that hold it in place.

Hello,

This sounds like the blower motor has failed but to be sure we can check for power and ground back at the blower motor here is a guide and some diagrams below so you can get the problem fixed.

I installed a car stereo in my Tahoe myself. The heat was working fine before I started but then after I turned the knob for the heater and no heat blew through the panels, not even when I had it all the way on high. I checked to see if maybe some wiring either came undone or was not pushed all the way in and it was fine. I checked the fuses that looked like they might have to do with the heater and those were fine. The only thing I can think of is I may have pulled something loose near the engine because I disconnected the coolant container to try to find a place to run my power cable through. The other day I lifted the hood while my car was running and I saw hot air coming out close to the firewall closer to the passenger side of the car.

Can you hear the blower motor running?

Where is that hot air coming from, that you were talking about?

You are dealing with a vacuum leak. The air flow vents are actuated by vacuum. If there is a leak, it won't change direction. Check for leaks under the dash. If you are lucky, you may hear a hissing sound when the engine is running.

Let me know what you find.

You are dealing with a vacuum leak which is causing the air flow problem. Check under the dash for leaks. If you are lucky, with the engine running, you may hear a hissing sound from the leak.

As far as the electrical issue, wither the fan switch has shorted or the blower motor resister.
