AC compressor not receiving power

was the TPIM programmed to your car after install by a mechanic? that may be the problem. you can check the light blue/white wire at C27 from the PCM that is what turns compressor on. the power does not come from TPIM, but that controls sensors in and out. you really should have a mechanic scan for codes as this may be a CAN/BUS problem.

I scanned for codes prior to installation and none showed up on my Innova scanner. I installed the TIPM. The instructions for the TIPM from Dorman said to turn the key to run for twelve seconds, turn the key off for twelve seconds and then start. I checked for codes again and none showed up. The care starts, runs and drives fine.

I must add that I did not have any power to the A/C compressor with the old TIPM either.

I am not familiar with Innova scanners but if they are cheap like at auto parts they will not read other modules other than engine/transmission. also they will not pick up CAN/BUS problems normally only the pro scanners will .

I would say you are correct. It was not a cheap scanner and it was not expensive, about $450.00. If I do not have any voltage from the PCM then it will be time for the local Dodge shop to take a look. thank you for your help. i know where to check now before i take it into the shop. just did not want to spend a $100.00 for them to tell me I have a bad wire. One thing I did notice is that the cooling fan is not kicking on when the compressor is supposed to after i have selected AC from the dash controls. Maybe the PCM is going south.

the pro scanners are around $4,000.00 to $5,000.00 so yes the Innova may be better than auto parts but will not read a lot of stuff. the cooling fan has relays in relay block but is turned on by TPIM module then after relays goes to the fan module. It is at rear of radiator, it goes to two of the relays as well. the can bus problem may be the PCM not talking to TPIM to make some of this stuff work. as they have to talk with each other to work correctly.

I have continuity from C27 at the PCM down to the compressor. So it is not a wire issue. There is one more thing I am going to try before I take it in. After scrolling thru my scanner I did find an HVAC controller fault. Would that possibly be the heat and air controls on the dash, where you adjust the temperature?

yes It is if there is a code there send it to me and I can send it back to tell you what to check. Designate whether this is auto temp control where you set the temperature as it is different from manual

My Avenger did the same thing.. new controller in the dash and it works good as new.. this site is full of good info
