Yep, the compressor has come apart internally, there is no maintenance for this part, just replacement. Here is a video on how to vacuum down and recharge the system which will need to be done before removing the compressor.

Here is how the AC compressor is changed out in the images below. Also, once the system is opened you need to check for debris inside the refrigerant tubes because the system will need to be flashed before the new compressor goes on if this is the case. I would install a new receiver dryer as well. You will need to remove the radiator cooling fan, alternator and the condenser to replace the receiver dryer. Check out the images (below).
