AC clutch does not engage. I am trying to recharge my AC system, but my compressor clutch doesn't engage. So it will not take Freon even after I vacuumed the system. Where is the pressure sensor located and the pressure switch? I need to check if my pressure switch is good.

I had a friend replaced the AC condenser. When I tried to recharge the system after I vacuumed it wont take the Freon and the clutch wont engage.
The compressor clutch will engage for like ten seconds only sometimes. I had done this before and I did not have problems. I used menafold gauges to check for leaks but it seemed that the system was sealed. Thanks

Hello, I'm Danny.

I've attached below a picture of the pressure sensor and its location. It's located in the condenser. When recharging the A/C system be sure the controls are on max A/C and the blower speed on its highest setting. Sometimes when a system is really low it takes time for the refrigerant to enter. Here is a tutorial for you to view:

Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Thanks. If the sensor is bad do you think this is the reason the compressor clutch is not engaging or it has nothing to do with it? I'm guessing to get to the sensor I have to move the front bumper or is a way to get to the sensor without removing the front bumper?

Hello again.

Yes, it's possible the A/C compressor will not cycle if the sensor is bad. No, you don't have to remove the bumper to gain access. It's accessible behind the grille on the left (driver side) attached to the condenser itself. See attached picture below. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
