A/C blows hot all modes/actuator

Compressor/Freon good. No clicking on startup. Been told can be actuator.

1. Is it possible it's actuator even without clicking? How many actuators may be defective or potentially replaced?

2. Can actuator(s) be reached from behind glove box?

3. If the issue is door, can door also be reached via glove box without taking full dash apart?

Are there any other components /parts related to this diagnosis beside the blower door and actuator. I ask as a reference was made to an actuator motor. Tia

Good morning,

Do you have gauges to tell me the high and low side pressures? Need to see them to make sure the system is working correctly.

1. Yes, if it is stuck in heat position, it will not click. See if you hear it move when you change command from heater to cold and back.

2. No. The blend door actuator is on top of the heater box and the dash must be removed to access.

3. No again. As I stated the dash has to be removed.

The pressures are another possibility. Is the compressor clicking in and is the front of the compressor turning? I need the pressure readings.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Moulding/Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Removal and Installation, See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel > Procedures > Removal and Installation

2. Disconnect the connector.

3. Remove the four screws.

4. Remove the temperature blend door actuator.

5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Are the A/C lines cold as they enter the firewall? If they are then for sure there is an issue with the blend door or actuator. You can access the blend door actuator without completely removing the dash completely. Lower the steering column, remove the bolts that are in the dash removal instructions, pull back the passenger side of the dash and hold with a prop rod or wood block, trim back the foam padding on the firewall to access the rear blend door motor bolt. I use an 8mm 1/4 drive shallow socket that I shaved 2mm off so it would fit. I used to be able to do it in 45 minutes but the first time may take longer. But if you feel unsafe doing it this way you should follow regular removal instructions, I just like helping folks out.
