Hello,
Want to know if AC compressor is hurt. It was working and blowing not that kind of cold air, but still not hot (although compressor looked to be working continuously without hearing its clutch clicking).

I charged the AC today for the first time in eight years (l do not use that car much, it only made 30,000 km while most of my trips are short city ones). The difference now between before and after charging is huge. I do not recall it was ever that good even when the car was brand new. Does this mean that compressor was not hurt during those years of low refrigerant? Thanks.

Good evening.

If all is good, the fact that the system was low after eight years is good. Seeping Creon over that time is normal.

I would keep an eye on it and look for any evidence of leaks.

Thanks Roy, most helpful. So, since Freon did not hit that low of disabling compressor for its own protection, the compressor is good?
Would it not be a good idea that compressor would disengage just when Freon is only, say 25% lost (or a warning light comes on) instead of presumably 75%?

The low pressure has be below twenty lbs before the compressor will disengage. It is not about Freon level, it is about pressures.
