The A/C compressor failed, as a result I replaced the expansion valve, the A/C compressor and the condenser with dryer. I drew a vacuum and left it for over an hour, all seemed fine. I then recharged the system but was not happy with the way the 134a was drawn into the system. From the manifold gauges the low side registers 35 lbx and the high side just under 200.

The problem is that the A/C is only blowing cool and not cold, additionally when I took it for a test drive there was an occasional squeaking noise that seems to be related to the A/C system. It sounds similar to the noise the old compressor made before it ceased working. I am very impressed that you are making yourselves available and hope that you can help me with this issue.

In this heat the high side should be about 250 and the low about 50, but the squeaking noise makes me thing the new expansion valve is plugged, when the old compressor went bad did it spread metal throughout the system? What do the pressure go to when you raise the engine idle to about 1500? Please let me know. Also is the radiator fan on when the AC is on and did you add oil to the system?

Great responses, there was no indication of any metal being spread through the system. I will check the pressures again and see if that makes a difference. Mea culpa on the PAG oil, the new compressor indicated that it came with oil, when I took off the caps there was pressure in the compressor and evidence of oil. I did not pour it out and measure it and in retrospect feel like I should have. I do have the PittStop AC oil analyzers and thought I would use them to check the level. The radiator fan appeared to be on, I will check that again. I intend to work on the car this weekend and will get back to you. Thanks for the quick response, not sure what inspires 2CarPros to engage in free advice, but it is greatly appreciated by this shade tree mechanic.
