To make a long story short, my car encounter a problem with the traction control and ABS. I had my mechanic take a look and he found no problems. He recommended that I bring my vehicle into the dealership because he said the problem was within the ABS module unit and unfortunately there was not much he could do. I called the dealership and they said the Fusion has a common problem with the modulator and replacement part is going to cost me $1,400.00 plus labor ($160.00 an hour) to install and program it. At my local junk yard they have the module and modulator unit all in one for $75.00 that would be out of the same type of vehicle as mine (2006 Ford Fusion). If I picked the part up at the junk yard would it still require to be re-programmed and is this an easy job to tackle? The internet makes it look so easy when replacing the unit as a whole.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, that is a viable option. If that is the route you choose be sure you get some kind of guaranty or warranty on the parts. Usually wrecking yards will give a 90 day warranty. I would just hate to see you spend all this money on an untested unverified part that might not work. To answer your question yes, you will have to still have that part programmed to your particular vehicle. I've attached picture steps below on how to replace and its location. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
