I removed relays for ABS Motor and brakes let up so I could at least drive locally. (I know I shouldn't have but needed to get to auto store.
I did a scan and found it's the ABS module. As all my hydraulic pressures were low in all 4 wheels, also the motor of the ABS kept ticking. Tic, tic tic. Stopped after relays pulled.
Since I have 280,000 miles, I didn't want to buy a new unit, so I bought a used one with 30-day return policy.
Installed the unit with exact same model number 44510-48060. Worked for few minutes. But all lights stayed on. Thought I'd just need to clear codes.(Which I didn't do yet as I did the codes at autocrats store and they said they can't clear codes. Etc.)
Bleed the brakes thought that would help but it didn't. ABS stopped working as brakes went to "Manual again". Bought Innova code reader that does ABS reading/clearing.I hope tonight this does the trick? Worried it won't. I will clear the codes and see what happens.
made appt. At Toyota to "RE-Program" ABS module. But not sure if it's worth the $180? Do you think this will make the module start working?
What do you think?
I will clear the cords and see if lights come back on? If they come back on, could it be the used ABS module may be defective?
Sorry for all the questions. Not sure what to do?
Thank you very much for any help
