My truck keeps locking up the brakes some times while in first, second and third gears. The lights that stay on are; wrench, ABS, traction lights. Could this possibly be the CV? This happened before and I replaced the front driver side CV but now its happening again.

Good afternoon,

The fact the ABS light is on tells me there is a fault code stored. I need that code so I can help you with that part.

The brakes locking up is different. You need to check all the wheels for pads, rotors and calipers. Make sure no wheel is sticking from worn or bad parts.

When was the last time you changed the fluid in the brake system?

Hello Roy,
thank you for the information, I will try these this weekend. I will try to get to O'Riely's to get the codes, I had them at one time but I lost it. I will try to bleed brakes, and check the brake fluid, I did replace the brake pads and rotors just last year. And I have barley driven it in the pas 6 months due to the transmission going out on me. I also only replace 1 CV on the driver side. Could it possibly be a ring or bearing in the CV? I saw some YouTube videos stating that could be it also. But I know I have a lot of codes that come up every time I take it to get my codes. I will do these 1st and I will get back to you!
Thank you!

No to the ring or CV joint.

Have the codes read and we will go from there.

Hello I finally got the codes, and I ordered a sensor line? Line:STD Item:ALS1715 from oRillies auto parts. And I had them bring up my codes as well.
P0480, P0528, B2984, B2290, C1414, U1900, B1318, C1233, C1155, B1676
I will be picking up that part tomorrow and hopefully find someone to do it for me.
Thanks!

Got it.

Code possibilities below.

The B codes are for the air bag system. Chances are the airbag light is on. All those items need to be checked for the system.

The 1900 code is for the DVD player.

The 1318 is for the charging system. This could be a bad alternator, wiring or a failed PCM.

1676 is for low battery voltage to the ABS. Check all the fuses with a test light with the key on and verify voltage on both sides of the fuse. This is not a visual test, it is a voltage test.

b2984

Normal Operation
As part of the SRS, the vehicle is equipped a deployable steering column. The restraints control module (RCM) will deploy (collapse) the steering column during a frontal collision when seat position information and other parameters reach predetermined limits.

The RCM checks the deployable steering column circuits for faults. If the RCM detects an open circuit, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B2984 in memory and illuminate the air bag indicator.

Possible Causes
A deployable steering column open circuit fault can be caused by:
wiring, terminals or connectors.
a faulty steering column.
a faulted RCM.

2290

NOTE:
DTC B2290 reported by the RCM is informational only and indicates the presence of a fault in the occupant classification sensor (OCS) module. Refer to the Supplemental Restraints System (SRS) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Table when DTC B2290 is reported by the RCM for diagnostic instructions. See: Air Bag Systems > Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures > Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) DTC Chart
The following pinpoint test must only be used to diagnose DTC B2290 when reported by the OCS module.

Normal Operation
The occupant classification sensor (OCS) system is used to classify the front passenger seat occupant in the event of a deployable impact.

The OCS module monitors the 2 OCS rails (weight sensors) and circuity for faults. If the OCS module detects a fault with the sensor(s) or circuitry, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B2290 in memory and send a message to the restraints control module (RCM) which illuminates the air bag indicator.

Fault Conditions
The OCS module monitors for the following fault conditions:
A faulted circuit
An OCS rail fault

Possible Causes
An OCS system fault can be caused by:
damaged wiring, terminals or connectors.
a faulty OCS system component.
