I recently purchased the car listed above. It has been maintained very well and the previous owner has a very transparent clear service history information. After the previous owner took it for the last service before completing the purchase with me, the Abs light came on. It appeared to be an easy fix, but he ended up spending a lot of money getting a Hyundai mechanic to look at it. They connected the scanner to the car but the Hyundai something was ‘offline’ at the time so they couldn’t get a proper reading. Upon further testing they found out that actually the ABS sensors, and the ABS itself was working. He showed me the videos of it being tested on the computer while it was being driven. He continued to look for a fix through the mechanics, but the mechanics had already spent a lot of time and money looking into it and still couldn’t find the cause. He didn’t want to spend any more time on it as his wife recently had a baby and he started running a business; so, he offered to drop $1,000 off the price or he would readvertise it and then sell it; I ended up purchasing it. He thought the cause may have been the cluster/instrument board as he recalls that one day when he was opening that up to replace the cluster board lights, he heard an odd sound when he was opening/closing the cluster/instrument board.
Does anyone have insight on the cause for this? I also don’t want to spend any unnecessary time and money on this, but I do want to get the ABS light turned off to put my mind at ease.
