ABS activating brake pedal vibrating or pulsating when making u turns or stopping at slow speeds. It’s gradually starting to happen more every day. There is no abs light coming on the dash or anything. I had the front two calipers replaced about two months ago. I also noticed the steering wheel shaking when braking at highway speeds. Maybe a rotor issue? I will have it checked in the next few days. I was just looking for some opinions on the issue I’ve described to see what different areas could be at fault.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, pulsation or vibration is usually an indication of warped/cracked/out of round rotors. If the rotors are still within specification (thickness) you can usually have the rotors machined to correct. If not in specs then rotors will need to be replaced.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hey Danny,

Just to give you and update. I replaced the front rotors and the problem continues. Seemed to happen even more thereafter. Should a sensor be the next area of inspection?
Any information greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Stephen

It sounds like you may have two problems. which one do you still have the wheel shaking or the ABS light on, system activating?

The ABS light has never came on but the initial problem is still occurring. At slow speed and some turns when I brake the brake pedal vibrates/pulsates. The same feeling/sound when my traction control system would activate. I do have the VSC light on and I can’t turn it off.

9 times out of 10 it is an ABS wheel speed sensor not reading correctly due to a faulty sensor or a axle bearing hub is going out causing the issue. The system thinks one tire is skidding when is not. I would check the front bearing hubs, do you hear a noise while driving/turning that is not normal, like a low hum?
