“ABS ESP unavailable”

Car starts and upon first acceleration the car grinds a bit then it goes away. My mechanic said it’s a wheel bearing and speed sensor but I’m not sure what this grinding noise is.

The light means that the ABS sensor isn't able to read the wheel speed and coupled with a grinding noise from a wheel bearing would point to that one being the problem. The wheel bearing is failing and will need to be replaced, That should repair both problems at the same time.
