Abs/brake/traction control light are on and the speedometer isn't working

I had the cars code read and it gave me the p0500 vehicle speed sensor A. I replaced the right rear speed sensor and the lights are still on and I don't know what to do from this point.

The sensor could have been defective, but it's important to understand that fault codes never say to replace parts or that they're bad. They only indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis. You also have to perform tests on the wiring to rule out a broken or corroded wire, or a loose or dirty connector terminal.
