Hi, I sent my car to dealer for periodic maintenance oil and filter changing. I was complaining about squeaky noises when driving on rough roads and asked to be checked. As I collected my vehicle I noticed something odd, it seems the noise inside the cabin increased, I mean the ambiance noise from the road from the wheels from the wind, everything sounds louder as if a door or a window is not sealed properly. Even the horn sounded differently as I hear it inside the car. I went back to the dealer and complained but of course they didn’t take the case seriously and claimed that the noise levels are normal and where it should be but I know it’s not and my wife also confirmed the same however I can’t prove it or pinpoint the root cause of it. I was wishing that you can help me so I can go back to the dealer and prove my case or if the repair is simple I can do it myself. Thanks

Hi,

For it to be louder, something must be open or have a gap. Have you checked the weather stripping around the doors and windows? Also, can you pinpoint approximately where the noise is coming from? For example, does it seem like you hear it from the passenger side?

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks Joe for the quick response. I have indeed checked the weather stripping around the doors and windows and found it intact and in a good shape. As for the noise it appears coming from every direction, if a car is pulling next to passenger side or my side I’ll hear it louder, if I drive on road studs fast I hear the impact sound louder from beneath the car, the sound of wheels rotating is louder even when I blow the horn it sounds louder and different. It literally feels like when you slightly open a window with a small gap but I can’t find this gap and it’s really frustrating for a brand new and quiet car to turn into this over night. Thanks again

Hi,

Did they ever indicate what was making the squeaking sound? I'm wondering if they opened a seal under the dash and that is what you are hearing.

Let me know.
