Why would a leak happen by or with the water pump but all of a sudden stop after a few days? I know it was coolant because I checked the puddle but today after 5 days of having to put a half a gal of water in a day I checked when I got home and there was no leak. Normally I'll leave a drip trail and I'll see it when I get home and then a puddle when the cars off. But today no trail and no puddle. This morning I filled the radiator up completely and I just went to work then home. 15 minute drive both ways. I got the pump today and plan on replacing the one on the car this week but I'm confused bout this.

Good evening,

It may be leaking from the weep hole. That is an indication the bearing is worn and coolant is leaking past the seal.

It will not stay the same and must be replaced.

REMOVAL
1. Drain the coolant and disconnect the radiator outlet hose and engine coolant by-pass hose from the engine coolant pump.
2. Remove the drive belt and engine coolant pump pulley.
3. Remove the timing belt covers and the timing belt tensioner.
4. Remove the engine coolant pump mounting bolts and then remove the alternator brace.
5. Remove the engine coolant pump assembly from the cylinder block.
