A/C recharge

1991 FORD RANGER
114,000 MILES • 4.0L • 6 CYL • 2WD • MANUAL

We were going to recharge the A/C , but cannot find the port (on the low side, bigger line), but the only port we can locate is right next to the canister looking thing, but it looks like a tire stem. Little black screw off cap just the same. And that line goes down the passenger side of the engine. Any ideas?

Good afternoon.

Is this system the old R12 system? If it is, the high and low side ports are the same. They are screw on lines and require different gauges then the 134 systems.

Can you post a picture of what you see?

yes, i will take a few pics of the system in the morning. i have my suspicions this is the old R12 set up, not the R134a
