A/C problem

The A/C will not tun on. Indicator panel is blank. Rear A/C same. Nothing shows on indicator panel. Also, outside temperature gauge shows "---" and coolant - temperature gauge is also not working. One day all working fine. Next day, nothing. I checked A/C fuses. All appear okay.

A visual inspection of all of the fuses can work but I have seen fuses that looked good, but the fuse was bad. The better way to test them is to use a test light.

As to which fuses to test -
In the fusible link box, the Heater 50 amp, The RRHeater 30 amp and the CDS Fan 25 amp. All three power parts of the heat/AC system.

In the power center fuse box, the HTR (heater) 10 amp, Gauge 15 amp, CIG 15 amp and the dome 10 amp fuses.

Those all power parts of the heat/AC system.

The fuses in the power center fuse box checked out okay with the circuit tester light. In the fusible link box, the 25 amp CDS fan fuse checked out okay. However, I do not know how to check the heater or RR heater fuses as they are different. See attached photo. Can you tell me how to check these fuses?

On the large fuses you either remove them for testing, test at the terminals they feed or swap them out.

To test the large fuses you usually need to remove them for testing unless they have exposed terminals on top, some do but others have a solid cover. Depends on who made the part.

The picture I attached shows the heater and RR heater fuses are not regular fuses. They appear to be narrow black bars that are bolted down. Is that right? Do I unbolt to test them? (See bottom left quadrant of the picture. Directly under the white 25 amp fuse.). Sorry for all the questions. I am trying to figure this out. I think my problem is a faulty AC control panel because of the other two components that failed at the same time.

Those are fusible links. To test them you touch the ends where the bolts are. I thought you were asking about the block style fuses.

As things have so far tested okay I would be inclined to agree that it is the control head because the remainder of the parts on the controlled side of the unit would not make it go blank. Loss of power or internal failure would do that.

I took my Sequoia to repair shop. They confirmed that A/C control panel was the culprit. Replaced it and all are working now.
