A/C not working

The first thing I suggest is to disconnect the connector to the compressor and see if the fuse still blows. If it does, there is a problem with the electric clutch. If it doesn't then you need to trace wiring to find where the short is located. Keep in mind, the AC switch itself can be bad too.

I have attached a few pictures of the wiring schematic for you.

Picture 1 shows the power wire at the compressor electromagnetic clutch. It is a black wire with a white tracer. Disconnect that and see if the fuse blows. If it does, take a look at the rest of the pictures. Power runs from the switch via a white wire with a black tracer. It connects the with the switch, ground, and AC amplifier on the right side of the instrument panel. You will need to follow that wire to see if there is a bare wire, or something causing it to short.

Finally got back to my truck. I disconnected the wire to the compressor and the fuse did not blow. I got a connector from a junkyard and ran a wire to the battery. The clutch spun but I did not hear the compressor engage. I also ordered a new AC switch for the dash. I was thinking of checking the AC amplifier any thoughts on my next move?

Something is shorted in the compressor clutch on your original compressor. The compressor you got from the junkyard, is it good? Did the clutch engage? I see you ran power to it from the battery. Did you hear the compressor clutch click indicating it was turning the compressor? Is the used compressor fully installed including Freon?

I didn't replace the original compressor just the power connector and ran the wire straight to the battery. The clutch on the original compressor spun but did not click in or engage. I guess I need to hook up gauges and see if the system has enough Freon in it to run the compressor. any suggestions? Thanks

If you ran power directly to it, the clutch should have engaged regardless of Freon. Honestly, it sounds like the clutch is bad.
